What Is ClariFix® Cryotherapy?
ClariFix is a cryotherapy (freezing) treatment for chronic rhinitis. It is used to freeze the nerve that is responsible for sending too many signals to your nose that lead to congestion, mucous production, and sneezing.
The ClariFix device is a balloon that is placed in your nose during an in-office procedure at our Toronto location. The procedure is performed under a light level of sedation.
The ClariFix balloon is gently placed in the posterior part of your nose near the posterior nasal nerve (PNN). After placement, the balloon is filled with nitrogen gas that freezes the PNN nerve, the region that is the source of your symptoms. The procedure takes less than 10 minutes and is non-invasive. No tissue is cut or removed, and nothing is left in your nasal cavity after treatment.
How Effective Is ClariFix Cryotherapy?
Recent medical literature published in September 2021 in the Laryngoscope medical journal has shown that greater than 80% of patients have shown significant improvement in validated Nasal Symptom Scores (runny nose/rhinorrhea, congestion, sneezing, and itchiness) at their 2-year follow-up appointments.
