Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)

Breast reduction surgery reduces the size of the breasts to allow more comfortable activity and confidence in clothing.

Women with very large, drooping breasts may experience back and neck pain, skin irritation, skeletal deformities, and breathing problems as a consequence of the extra weight. Unusually large breasts can also make a woman feel extremely self-conscious. Breast reduction surgery (reduction mammoplasty) is a type of plastic surgery procedure designed to improve body proportions and relieve the symptoms related to overly large breasts.

What to Expect During the Breast Reduction Procedure

There are several different breast lift techniques, each with their own risks and benefits. Your plastic surgeons will help you choose the appropriate technique for your physical characteristics and objectives.

You will find that you feel more confident and comfortable with the size, shape, and feel of your breasts. Your beautifully natural results and enhanced body shape will be evident immediately after surgery.

Recovery after breast reduction surgery

Following breast reduction, patients will experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising which will last one to two weeks. Your surgeon will give you instructions and which type of bra to wear for the first few weeks after surgery.

Prior to your surgery, your plastic surgeon will provide detailed pre and post surgery instructions to ensure that you are properly prepared for the surgery and the recovery period.
